DRYFIRE PRESS PRESENTS: Recent Print Works is an exhibition of the latest collaborative print projects between me and my friends: art faculty, fellow graduate students, and recent alumni (it also includes my great-great grandfather, a hobby painter who died in the 40s).
The majority of the artists in this show have limited to no experience in printmaking, so this opportunity gave them a glimpse at prints creative possibilities, while giving me the chance to assume the role of artist, educator, and technician.
My primary reasons for choosing to work with this group of people are because they are my friends, and I wanted to share something with them and our community. Everyone in this show also has a very specific, almost autographic, visual language, and I felt that their hand would translate very well into the print medium. However, I do admit that there are also aspects of their art that I am drawn to (which perhaps have a dialogue with my own work), and I felt the collaborative experience would be mutually beneficial.
